.

Do you want to tell someone?

If yes - The Confidential Advocate at Sonoma State University can accompany a survivor through all support and reporting processes - to interviews, medical exams, meetings, appointments, legal hearings, etc. as well as help a survivor explore which options and resources feel most supportive

If no - Only you can make this decision. Everyone processes experiences differently. Resources and support are always available

Support Resources

You have access to confidential support through:

  • Sonoma State’s Counseling and Psychological Services for 24/7 immediate counseling to support student’s mental health and well-being with short-term individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, etc.
  • Verity is an off-campus resource that facilitates healing and promotes the prevention of violence by providing counseling, advocacy, intervention, and education.

You have access to private support through:

  • The Title IX Office at Sonoma State can offer education, training, prevention activities, and resources related to harassment and discrimination. Supportive measures are also available through this office to include academic support, no contact directives, housing changes, registrar support, connection to additional resources, and more.
  • The Family Justice Center is an off campus resource, and a point of access for comprehensive victim services.

If you would like reporting options, reporting could include reporting to the university through Title IX, reporting to the police, or both:

  • Reporting to the police might include an investigative or non-investigative forensic interview, evidence collection, cross reporting, and support in filing charges with the District Attorney’s Office.
  • Reporting to the university might include an early resolution agreement or an investigation can take place based on information shared and the decision of the survivor.
